Reptile gardens has the world’s largest reptile collection
The Black Hills Reptile Gardens in Rapid City, South Dakota has the world’s
largest reptile collection. Their newest addition is Maniac, the largest
crocodile in the western world. Reptile Gardens was listed as one of the top
to "Stop the Car and Take a Look" by USA Today.
The reptile collection lives among rare and beautiful minerals, fossils and
sculptures. Reptile Gardens has more of the deadliest snakes than any other
animal park or zoo. Reptile Gardens’ "Sky Dome" has the country’s first walk
through jungle populated by lizards, crocodiles, parrots and harmless snakes
as well as hundreds of tropical plants and orchids.
Two large Komodo dragons, Awas and Naga are popular with visitors to the
Reptile Gardens. Another extremely popular exhibit is the Giant Tortoise
exhibit.
The Reptile Gardens has a large collection of information on snakes,
crocodilians, turtles and amphibians. They also have shows open to the
public, Birds of Prey, Snake Show, Alligators and Crocodiles, and the
Bewitched Village Show. All draw many visitors.
