The pet supplies you will need for your new dog or cat

You have decided to get a cat or dog and are ready to bring him home. What pet supplies do you need? For any pet first you will want a way to transport your pet, a crate for cats, dogs and rabbits. The sellers usually give you a cardboard container for snakes, guinea pigs, turtles and such. Other pet supplies needed are feeding equipment, bowls or automatic feeding and watering stations.

For a dog you will need a leash, chew toys, a bed, comb and or brush, nail clippers and other grooming pet supplies. Your pet will also need a collar to attach his rabies tag. Other pet supplies you will need would be an ID tag. For a "hairless" or toy dog, sweaters may be necessary. Of course you will also need food and treats. Books about the breed and general books about dog care and training. There are also seat belts for your dog that will allow him to look out the window and remain safe. A "pooper-scooper" to clean up the dog’s waste from yard or sidewalk is also a necessity.

Cats need a carrier or crate so that you can get them to the vet and receive pet supplies related to the health of your pet. They also need a collar for their rabies tag. For cat owners one of the most important pieces of pet supplies is a scratching post, unless you like the distressed look for your furniture. Obviously a litter box is a non-negotiable item. Grooming supplies, food, treats and toys are a few more cat supplies you will want. Don’t forget a book about cat care.
