Pet friendly hotels - they are out there but check before you go

The majority of hotels and motels in the United States are not pet friendly hotels. They do not allow any pets at all. If you want to go on a vacation call ahead and make sure your pet will be welcome. A pet friendly hotel is one that allows dogs, cats and other small animals to stay in the room with a paying guest.

Some of these pet friendly hotels require a deposit on either a per day or per stay basis. If your pet does no damage your deposit will be refunded. Others require a charge either by the day or to cover the whole stay. These fees are not refundable. Also some hotels will accept dogs only, cats are not allowed. Your dog can be expelled for barking that disturbs other guests. Other hotels restrict your pet by weight. Call ahead and check to be sure what the limitations are at any pet friendly hotel.

There are several web sites that help you find a pet friendly hotel. You just type in destination, dates of stay, type of room, number of people and pet information. Check and see what the requirements for having a pet with you are. The site will give you a list of the pet friendly hotels in the area and you can make your reservations on line ahead of time.
