Aquarium goldfish
Aquarium goldfish do not belong in a little glass bowl
To keep aquarium goldfish healthy and living longer they need a larger
environment then the little glass bowls people normally use. The limited
space in fish bowls stresses the fish and can stunt their growth. Also a
tank has a wider surface area so the fish can come up to breathe. The bottom
of the tank you want to put your fish in should be lined with coarse gravel
or glass marbles. Aquarium goldfish tanks also should be filtered and have
an air pump.
You need at least ten gallons of water for each of your aquarium goldfish
for them to grow properly. Not all goldfish are actually gold. Some have
black or silver spots and others called calico goldfish have a mixture of
whites, orange, blues and black.
Goldfish are omnivores, they feed on meat and vegetables. You can buy flaked
food for your aquarium goldfish, but you can supplement with steamed
vegetables and frozen live foods. Feed your fish smaller meals more
frequently like three times a day.
You can buy your aquarium goldfish on line at specialty tropical fish
stores. Or you can go to your local pet stores like Pets Mart and Petco. The
tanks and other equipment can be found just about everywhere. Department
stores like Walmart usually have pet departments that sell tanks, filters,
food, fish and decorations for the tank.
